question meme!!
jon's account just hit 1.5k comments, so i'm putting up a question meme for him! ask me questions, i'll answer them, and ask questions in return. right now, i've got jon/yarrow and luffy at aather and jon/altair at kyriakos.

currently, i think robin is prooobably one of the closest characters to him. her and arya and fin are all fairly close, for a bunch of different reasons, and i'm pretty sure he's had more threads with robin than anyone else as of right now? so he considers her a super close friend and the proof of that is the fact that he's disclosed some of the little details about his life at home. that will probably continue to be a thing, because i think i want him to eventually tell her that he's a bastard.
anyway, there's also some very slight feelings that could maybe be the beginnings of a romantic attraction? it's not super pronounced or anything, but they've held hands and sparred with each other and stuff, so while it's pretty much all been platonic, there's still like a hint of possibility there that he will probably never act because he's got vows and being a knight in aather really pings his sense of duty and honor. he really likes her, though, and considers her the closest friend he's made in aather.

the final thing, i guess, is that even though jon doesn't know a lot about patronning, he tends to think of as being the equivalent of a lord/lady-vassal type relationship. and so when he looks for some to patron with, he's very specifically looking at it through that lens, so he's looking for someone that he wouldn't mind serving as a knight might serve their lord. and while he likes beauty well enough, she doesn't quite ping him in that way. even though he's only had a couple conversations with the snow queen, there's something about her personality that clicks well with jon. she strikes him as the sort of person he can grow to understand more about and his instincts tell him that she's not a bad or deceitful person, which makes him want to speak with her more and eventually take her as his patron. i think the fact that she's somewhat cold and dispassionate specifically pings him because that plays directly into his idea of what a lord/lady/queen/king ought to be like and, thus, his idea of what he'd want out of a patron.
and i'll reverse the question! why would the snow queen consider taking jon on as her knight?

However, when it boils down to it, what happened in their conversations was that Jon showed that he did care and had an interest in what happened to Aather and learning about what was up, overall – and that kind of curiosity and interest and wish to learn is something the Snow Queen resonates with and responds very well to. He was also very direct with her in turn, which she appreciates! She is…a very direct personality herself, as someone in the domain of logic and ice; she also likes it when people ask her things and talk about things straight to her face instead of trying to hold layered conversations with her, because she’s – she got transformed at the end of her Camelot realm arc; she got forcibly transformed into something that’s more on the human side of the balance than the elemental, and she’s been quietly trying to deal with it for some time now without heroes/knights trying to probe deeply into it.
So she was very touched when he asked her about herself, about what a knight could do for her, and then directly asked her to her face if she would consider taking a new knight! It’s obviously early days in their actions but basically he’s been very nice to her and is overall refreshingly direct and nonconfusing, and he didn’t wave it off when she mentioned what she needed, and she feels they might be a very good match to help each other in a lot of ways – both with physical tasks like heartfinding/power providing, and with just straight up navigating Aather as a landscape of learning and socialization.
What made you decide to app Jon in particular to Aather?

How's Jon feeling about Aather in general?
